Fire Up The Grill And Get To Prepping

Get your grill going, and let it heat up while you prep the kabobs. All you have to do is make the sauce – just whisk all of the sauce ingredients together in a small jar or bowl. Then, cut up your chicken, bell peppers, red onion and pineapple. Try to get them all cut up in similar sizes so everything cooks evenly.

Layer All The Goodies On The Kabobs

We kept it simple with the ingredients for these Hawaiian chicken kabobs, and I love the way the grilled pineapple and onions taste together. If you have any other favorite combos, go ahead and feel free to sub the fruit and veggies to fit your taste! Whatever you do, just make sure everything is chopped up in like sizes and thread them on kabobs in whatever order you like!

The Sauce

We used maple syrup as a sweetener, but you could also try date paste for a lower glycemic index. Then, we used coconut aminos in place of soy sauce, which is traditionally used in Hawaiian cooking. We added a little tomato paste, garlic and chili powder. It really adds a smokiness that is a tasty combo, especially with the sweet pineapple.
